Top MOH officials, including MOH deputy DG Dr Norhayati Rusli, held a town hall meeting in Port Dickson yesterday with health inspectors after health inspectors publicly raised concerns with their career progression in district health offices (PKDs).
The abundance of medical personnel in PKDs, who are not specialists, is unnecessary. Medical personnel should work in hospitals. Let the prevention and control of infectious diseases be carried out by assistant officers/ environmental health officers.
Contract allied health workers, like medical lab technologists, radiographers, health inspectors, PPKs and PPPs — angry at being sidelined in a “caste” system — criticise Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa’s town hall as it was held exclusively with doctors.
