Selangor MB Amirudin Shari says to date, about 77% of Selangor’s adult population have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose, including 44% who are fully vaccinated.
The emergency use authorisation does not include fully vaccinated healthy people as both the Pfizer-BioNTech and the Moderna vaccines have shown to be highly effective at preventing hospitalisation and death in this group.
The Sarawak state government is likely to procure either Moderna or Sinovac for third doses, as Pfizer and AstraZeneca only deal with national governments.
Suggested criteria for relaxation: fully vaccinated rate ≥70% of the total population; total critical care bed occupancy rate for Covid-19 of ≤90%; total daily new cases ≤4000 with share of positive tests ≤5%.
Amirudin Shari also says he is working with Khairy Jamaluddin on enabling stateless people or undocumented foreign workers in Selangor to register for Covid-19 vaccination.
