Covid-19 patients are now staying in ICU much longer, sometimes months, while ventilators, oxygen supply, and medications are running short, say Klang Valley health care workers.
From June 9 until July 7, Selangor (860 deaths), Kuala Lumpur (268 deaths) and Negeri Sembilan (269 deaths) recorded 1,397 Covid-19 deaths, comprising 63% of Malaysia’s total 2,232 fatalities.
Dr Benedict Sim Lim Heng from Sungai Buloh Hospital says many sick Covid-19 patients now are in their 40s to 60s, and even 20s to 40s, compared to a month ago when most were in their 60s to 80s.
Johor, Perak, Melaka, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Kedah reported higher Covid-19 case fatality rates than the national death rate of 0.86% from May 16-22.
