FPMPAM Questions ‘Lofty’ 1,000 Madani Patients Monthly Target Per Clinic

ProtectHealth targets 1,000 Madani Medical Scheme (SPM) patients/ GP clinic/ month. FPMPAM head Dr Shanmuganathan says this is a lofty target, noting that his clinic, which operates 9-5 on weekdays & half-day Sat, sees ~600 patients monthly (outside SPM).

MMA admits that the Madani Medical Scheme's (SPM) fee structure for panel GP services is "way below market" and that it's still negotiating with the government to review some aspects, but maintains SPM is a "very good" public-private partnership project.

MPCAM says ProtectHealth Corp has assured it that panel GPs won't have to foot costs from Madani Medical Scheme claims that exceed limits, but MPCAM notes that doctors still have to bear losses from medications reimbursed below clinics' purchase prices.
