Cabinet Discussed MQA-MMC Conflict In Parallel Pathway: Minister

Comms Minister Fahmi Fadzil says today's Cabinet meeting discussed the need to amend an unspecified Act or Acts in the parallel pathway issue. A Cabinet paper will be tabled next week. "The parallel pathway issue involves a conflict between MQA and MMC."

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) tells UiTM to open its cardiothoracic surgery postgrad programme to non-Bumi students "in the best interest of the health of the population". MMA points out that UiTM has a postgrad programme for international students.

Cardiothoracic Surgery Parallel Pathway Graduates Win Leave For Judicial Review Against MMC

The High Court today granted leave for four cardiothoracic surgery graduates with FRCS Edinburgh qualification to initiate judicial review proceedings against the MMC for rejecting their NSR specialist registration applications. AGC had no objections.

IJN's Head of Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery told eight FRCS Edinburgh cardiothoracic surgery trainees and grads last Jan to go to UiTM for accreditation and credit transfer, after MMC did not recognise the parallel pathway qualification.
