I would like to highlight a matter of growing concern among private medical practitioners — the persistent inefficiency and lack of communication within the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) section overseeing private medical practice licensing, particularly the CKAPS Unit (Unit Klinik).
Over recent months, numerous practitioners have reported prolonged delays in the processing of clinic opening applications (Borang A). Emails sent to the division remain unanswered for extended periods, and repeated telephone calls are seldom picked up.
This absence of communication and feedback has left many applicants uncertain about the status of their submissions, directly affecting clinic operations and service delivery to patients.
This issue appears to be systemic rather than isolated. A review of publicly available Google feedback and reviews on the CKAPS Unit reveals consistent complaints from multiple applicants describing unreturned calls, unresponsive officers, and long-standing administrative delays.
Such publicly documented dissatisfaction indicates deeper operational challenges within the division that warrant immediate administrative review.
While practitioners fully support the MOH’s role in ensuring compliance and safety, basic standards of communication, transparency, and accountability must be maintained.
Timely updates, clear contact channels, and defined processing timelines are essential to preserve professional confidence and ensure that healthcare services can be established efficiently for the benefit of the public.
It is hoped that the MOH will acknowledge these concerns and take prompt steps to improve responsiveness and operational efficiency within this critical division.
The author is a budding general practitioner.
