As of 23 Feb, 2.6 million Sinovac recipients and 1.1 million senior citizens still have not yet taken their Covid-19 vaccine booster jab.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 – The government has extended the deadline for senior citizens and Sinovac primer vaccine adult recipients to March 31 to get their Covid-19 booster shot in order to retain their fully vaccinated status.

As of yesterday, some 2.4 million elderly people aged 60 years and above have received their third coronavirus vaccine dose, with some 1.1 million senior citizens yet to get boosted.

As for Sinovac recipients, nearly 7.4 million of 10 million have received a booster jab as of yesterday, which means that 2.6 million people still have not taken their third vaccine dose.

“Sinovac primer vaccine recipients aged 18 years and older, as well as senior citizens aged 60 years and older who received any vaccine across vaccine types, must get a booster dose to retain their fully vaccinated status,” Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin told a press conference today.

“The initial 28 February 2022 deadline has now been extended to 31 March 2022. Starting 1 April 2022, fully vaccinated status will turn to “incomplete” without a booster dose.”
