NKF Malaysia Signs MoU With Malaysian Pharmacists Society To Raise Funds For Kidney Failure Patients

The MoU will entail placement of donation boxes in pharmacies nationwide.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 – The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Malaysia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS), with the objective of raising funds through placement of donation boxes in pharmacies to provide an accessible and affordable channel for public donation.

The funds collected from the donation boxes will go towards NKF to subsidise treatment costs for kidney failure patients.

“We are honoured that the Malaysian Pharmacists Society has come forward to assist NKF in our fundraising effort to provide subsidised dialysis treatment to the underprivileged kidney failure patients under our care.

“In line with our vision to lead in the promotion and enhancement of kidney health as well as management and treatment of kidney disease, our sincere thanks to the Malaysian Pharmacists Society for collaborating with the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia,” said Khor Xin Yun, NKF Malaysia chief executive officer.

The collected funds will go towards the upkeep and replacement of dialysis machines that are crucial in treating kidney failure patients. One machine can treat up to six patients and by result, extending their lives.

Each donation made can make a huge difference regardless of how big or small and would be greatly appreciated.

“Aside from the funds raised, we are of the belief that pharmacists as primary care providers can play an important role in educating the broader public and raising awareness to reduce the growing number of dialysis patients in Malaysia,” said Amrahi Buang, president of Malaysian Pharmacists Society.
