New Health DG Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan plays a crucial role in aligning the health care system’s future direction with the Health White Paper, says the Malaysian Medical Association.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 – The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has congratulated Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan on his recent appointment as the new Health director-general (DG).

The association expressed confidence in Dr Muhammad Radzi’s capabilities, citing his vast knowledge and experience garnered from years of public health care service and his clinical research expertise as valuable assets to the country’s health care system.

In a statement issued today, MMA president Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai said the Health DG’s appointment comes at a time when the nation’s health care system is undergoing significant changes, and that the MMA anticipates Dr Muhammad Radzi’s leadership will strengthen the Ministry of Health’s efforts in this regard.

“As Health DG, he will have a key role in setting the direction of the health care system for the future, in line with the aspirations of the Health White Paper,” Dr Muruga said.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa yesterday announced the appointment of Dr Muhammad Radzi as the new Health DG, effective April 21, 2023. Dr Muhammad Radzi takes over the role from Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who has reached the compulsory retirement age of 60.

The MMA has expressed its commitment to work closely with Dr Muhammad Radzi and his team towards achieving a more robust and effective health care system in Malaysia.

“We would like to take this opportunity to wish him success and welcome him into his new role as we look forward to working with him and his team.”
