MMA President Attends King Charles’ First Commonwealth Day Celebration

Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai joins King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, where the King praised health care workers’ efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

LONDON, March 17 – King Charles III recently celebrated his first Commonwealth Day at Buckingham Palace, and sent his regards to the people of Malaysia.

Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai, president of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and Commonwealth Medical Association, attended the event and shared the King’s appreciation for health care workers’ hard work and dedication during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is amazing, the work done by the medical team,” the King said, according to Muruga.

The King also signed the Commonwealth Charter, which outlines the family of nations’ 16 core values. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of being together and working together.

Dr Muruga expressed his gratitude for attending and celebrating the occasion with the royal family, and the event marked a significant change from the previous celebration, which the late Queen Elizabeth II hosted at Marlborough House in London.
