Selgate Healthcare Signs MoU With Dawjie For Senior Living Complex

The merger will look into a joint exploration to extend Selgate Healthcare and Dawjie’s services to encourage health and wellness among senior citizens in Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 – Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd has entered into a joint venture agreement with Dawjie Sdn Bhd to develop and run a senior citizen care complex.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will entail the establishment of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which is currently known as Selcare Senior Living.  

Representing Selgate Healthcare were executive director Noor Hisham Mohd Ghouth and chief executive officer Dr Muaz Omar. Signing on behalf of Dawjie was director Hajah Asral Widad.

This merger will look into a joint exploration to extend Selgate Healthcare and Dawjie’s services to encourage health and wellness among senior citizens in Malaysia through their subsidiaries, Selcare Senior Living and Pertubuhan Darul Insyirah.

Dawjie is responsible for handling, researching, planning, and developing endowment (waqaf) properties for the benefit of the Pertubuhan Darul Insyirah through the state Islamic religious council. 

The three-storey elderly care complex, which will be developed on six acres of land in Bangi, is the first syariah compliant senior living complex in Malaysia. it will house 130 beds, lecture hall, a dining area, a dementia room, and guest rooms, among others.

Through this collaboration, Dawjie will provide expertise in terms of operations of the complex, employment, as well as education modules, while administered by Selcare Senior Living. 

“Selgate as a whole is not focusing on health care like general practitioners and dental clinics only, but we also care about the welfare of the elderly,” said Noor Hisham.

He added that Selgate strives to continue bringing value to the assisted living industry by making health care and quality living affordable.

He said this project will mark the beginning of efforts to improve the quality of services for the elderly.
