KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 – Harjeet Singh Hardev Singh was promoted today to secretary-general of the Ministry of Health (MOH) from deputy secretary-general (management) at the same ministry.

Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali announced Harjeet’s appointment, effective today.

Harjeet replaced Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, who was transferred to the Public Service Department (JPA) as director-general last February 10, a year after he was appointed MOH secretary-general in 2021.

According to Zuki’s statement, Harjeet, 59, has 33 years’ experience in the public service since 1989.

“He has extensive experience in the fields of planning, human resource management, and policies and previously served as the director-general of the public complaints bureau. His last position was deputy secretary-general (management) of the Ministry of Health Malaysia,” said Zuki.

Harjeet recently appeared in the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) report, where the Hansard of the PAC’s meeting last March 8 quoted Harjeet as saying that MOH was deliberating between purchasing the entire MySejahtera system or to buy software as a service from MySJ Sdn Bhd.
