More Than 20% of Klang Valley Adults Boosted Against Covid-19

Sarawak, Putrajaya, KL, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Labuan exceeded the 17% national average of Covid-19 adult booster vaccination coverage as of Dec 14.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 — Sarawak, the central region of Malaysia, and Labuan have reported the highest Covid-19 booster vaccine coverage among adults, exceeding the 16.9 per cent national average.

The Klang Valley reported 20.7 per cent Covid-19 booster vaccine coverage among the 6.2 million adult population as of December 14. 

Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur increased by around 10 percentage points compared to a week ago and are at 35.72 per cent and 33.52 per cent respectively. Selango, on the other hand, increased around 5 percentage points this week, making adult booster coverage at 16.7 per cent.

Similar to last week, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur are the second and third federal territories with the highest Covid-19 booster vaccine coverage among adults, while Sarawak is still leading with 45 per cent of adults having received additional shots.

Placed after the top three states and federal territories in terms of highest Covid-19 booster vaccine coverage among adults are Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Labuan, which have 33.5 per cent, 22.4 per cent and 22 per cent of adults respectively having received extra Covid-19 vaccine doses.

There are four states having their coverage between 10 to 20 per cent, which are, in decreasing order, Selangor, Kedah, Perak and Pahang. 

All other states recorded coronavirus booster coverage at less than 10 per cent of adults, with Sabah coming in last at about 5.5 per cent.
