Budget 2022: ProtectHealth Pledges To Prioritise B40 Health

ProtectHealth lauds the role of Budget 2022 in strengthening the national health care system and Covid-19 management.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd welcomes the allocation of RM32.4 billion for the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Budget 2022, which shows the government’s concern for the wellbeing of the people.

ProtectHealth will continue to prioritise the health care of the B40 group through PeKa B40, and will assist the government in the implementation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

ProtectHealth will also continue to facilitate the MOH in its efforts to provide booster doses to adults and vaccination programmes for adolescents and children aged 12 to 17, through the involvement of private medical practitioners and health NGOs.

As of October 29, 2021, ProtectHealth has successfully contributed 48 per cent of total vaccinations throughout Malaysia, which is equivalent to 23,576,102 doses for PICK.

In line with the company’s mission which is “Your Health, Our Mission”, ProtectHealth will continue to support the National Agenda of Healthy Malaysia as outlined in Budget 2022, which aims to promote a culture of a healthy lifestyle in tackling the problem of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity.

ProtectHealth CEO Anas Alam Faizli said the focus on public awareness and early detection of NCDs and subsequent intervention are very important, as this will provide greater benefits in the long run such as improving the quality of life and saving the costs of treatment.

As of September 30, ProtectHealth has conducted health screenings for more than 530,000 eligible beneficiaries nationwide through PeKa B40, and over 40 per cent have been detected to have at least one non-communicable disease.

Moving forward, ProtectHealth will conduct more outreach programmes together with various parties to ensure that those eligible for the PeKa B40 scheme will receive its benefits. 

ProtectHealth also fully supports the allocation of RM70 million in Budget 2022 for mental health issues, including strengthening support, counselling and psychology services, increasing advocacy programmes, and boosting the role of NGOs as movers of mental health programmes.

ProtectHealth will play a significant role in this area through research. and recipients of PeKa B40 will stand to benefit.

Overall, ProtectHealth lauds the role of Budget 2022 in strengthening the national health care system and Covid-19 management, in line with the 12th Malaysia Plan, to restructure Malaysia’s health care system.
