Aurelius Healthcare And LPPKN Team Up In Fight Against Breast Cancer

Under the Hunt That Lump campaign, Aurelius Hospital Nilai will provide complimentary mammograms for underserved women between 40 and 69, as well as policemen’s wives in Nilai and Nilai University students.

NILAI, Oct 13 — Breast cancer is currently the most common form of cancer affecting women in Malaysia, with one in 19 women being at risk.

While its prevalence cannot be undermined, understanding the disease and what needs to be done including early screening and detection, can save lives.

Yet, according to the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2019 (NHMS 2019), three in four women aged 40 years and above have never had a mammogram.

Recognising the need for tangible action, Aurelius Healthcare Sdn Bhd has teamed up with Lembaga Penduduk dan Pembangunan Keluarga Negara (LPPKN), an agency under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to encourage an uptake of breast cancer screenings by providing free mammograms to those eligible, throughout the month of October.

Administered by Nilai Medical Centre (soon to be known as Aurelius Hospital Nilai), this partnership involves a commitment to provide complimentary mammogram sessions that typically costs about RM290, which will be allocated for underserved women between the ages of 40 to 69 years old within the surrounding community.

The programme is also extended to the wives of Royal Malaysian Police personnel in Nilai and students of Nilai University.

This free mammogram screening is part of Aurelius’s ‘Hunt That Lump’ campaign, timed in conjunction with the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness month. Aurelius is also organising a series of engaging and educational activities to raise greater awareness around breast cancer.

“Through our Hunt That Lump campaign and collaboration with LPPKN, we want to take this opportunity to enrich the community’s understanding about breast cancer and to empower women to address the disease confidently and comfortably,” said Amir Firdaus Abdullah, Aurelius group managing director.

“We believe that we can lead the discussion by providing the latest and most advanced therapies to improve survival rates, as well as provide better support for our patients. That is what Aurelius wants to achieve — to deliver quality health care for a better tomorrow, which every Malaysian deserves,” he added.

The activities under the Hunt That Lump campaign include:

  • Hunt That Lump Facebook Live featuring Atilia Haron on October 16, who will be in conversation with a panel of oncologists, a dietitian, and a breast cancer survivor to exchange some effective strategies and ways to cope with the disease; dispel myths, and present facts to alleviate fears of breast cancer.
  • Free breast examination classes at Nilai Medical Centre.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) talk on breast cancer with a panel of oncologists to discover the most up-to-date insights on breast cancer care and treatments.
  • Fun engagements for the community to learn more about breast cancer and win exciting prizes.

Alongside LPPKN, Aurelius is also partnering with the Royal Malaysian Police in Nilai and Nilai University in this campaign to drive awareness about breast cancer.

You can register now for the free mammogram. Registration will be open until October 15, and successful applicants can redeem their free mammogram screenings by October 31.
