Under-60s Can Book AstraZeneca Vaccine From May 26 Noon

A total of 1.26 million doses have been allocated for the second round of opt-in inoculation with AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — Adults aged 18 to 59 in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, and Sarawak can make online bookings for AstraZeneca-Oxford’s Covid-19 vaccine from 12pm tomorrow.

According to Vaccine Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, a total of 1.26 million doses have been allocated for the second round of the opt-in AstraZeneca vaccination programme that was first restricted to senior citizens aged 60 and above from May 23.

“A total of 228,347 slots have been booked so far in the second round of AstraZeneca vaccination programme,” Khairy said in a joint press conference with Health Minister Dr Adham Baba today.

“We are prioritising registration among elderly people today and tomorrow morning. We will continue to prioritise them in the mainstream National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme,” Khary added.

Currently, there are still slots available in the government’s AstraZeneca vaccine online booking system from June 16 until July 27 in Johor and Penang, whereas Kuching and Miri have empty slots from June 10 until July 27.

In Selangor, slots are available from June 25 until July 27 and vaccination centres in Kuala Lumpur have non-occupied slots from June 9 onwards.

It is to be noted that the earlier registration for 268,800 slots of AstraZeneca vaccinations were filled up in less than four hours on May 2, when the voluntary opt-in scheme was opened for the first time.
