Private Dentists Haven’t Received Covid-19 Vaccine Yet — Dr Ajeet Singh

Dentists work in very close proximity to their patients for long periods.

I am a dentist in a private practice in Petaling Jaya. My clinic has been in a designated red zone for many months now.

I have been dutifully following World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of Health guidelines to keep my patients, staff and myself as safe as possible.

WHO has stated that dentists have a high risk of being infected with the Covid-19 virus. We work in very close proximity to our patients for long periods.

Our procedures involve exposure to our patients’ saliva, blood and other fluids. We are also using sharp instruments and drills. We very frequently perform aerosol-generating procedures with our dental work.

I am concerned that private dental practitioners have not generally been included in the vaccination appointments so far.

It is my hope that all dentists in private practice can be vaccinated soon.
