KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) today reported eight new Covid-19 cases, down from 13 yesterday.

The eight cases reported today comprised three imported infections and five local transmissions. The imported cases comprised a person returning from Kazakhstan (reported in Selangor), another from Indonesia (reported in Kedah), and the third from the Philippines (reported in Sabah).

All five local community transmissions involved Malaysians: one case from a screening at a medical centre in Kuala Lumpur; one pre-surgery screening at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Pahang; and three cases in Sabah (a screening referral and a hospital screening, both at Queen Elizabeth Hospital; and one pre-surgery case at Tawau Hospital).

Three Covid-19 cases are being treated in intensive care, including one on a ventilator.

No new fatalities from Covid-19 were reported today, with the total death toll remaining at 124.
