Brazil President Contracts Coronavirus

Jair Bolsonaro reportedly attended social events and political rallies while often wearing face masks incorrectly, or not wearing them at all.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 — Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, who reportedly trivialised the Covid-19 pandemic and ignored social distancing rules, has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Guardian reported that Brazil is the second-worst-hit country after the United States, recording over 65,000 deaths and 1.6 million confirmed Covid-19 cases.

“There’s no reason for fear. That’s life,” Bolsonaro was quoted saying.

“Life goes on. I thank God for my life and the role I’ve been given to decide the future of this great nation that is called Brazil.”

The Guardian reported that Bolsonaro previously attended social events and political rallies while often wearing face masks incorrectly, or not wearing them at all.
