Hundreds Exposed To Infection At US Hair Salon

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — Two hairstylists in the US state of Missouri have potentially exposed 140 of their clients to Covid-19.

The first stylist who earlier tested positive was thought to have exposed 84 customers and seven coworkers, while the second may have affected 56 clients.

Both worked at the same salon located in a mall in the city of Springfield. They were positive and symptomatic, but wore face masks while working.

The clients were also wearing face protection.

According to health authorities, all 140 clients and seven co-workers were notified and provided with testing.

Last weekend, city continued its reopening plan which allowed gyms, bars and public pools to operate. Gatherings of up to 50 persons were also permitted but with social distancing imposed.

Businesses such as hair salons and barbershops were allowed to operate.

According to health authorities, the state of Missouri currently has 11,988 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 681 deaths. The United States currently has more than 100,000 fatalities as a result of the outbreak.
