Menara City One In KL Under Total Lockdown, 17 Covid-19 Cases Detected

Over 3,000 residents are affected by the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) that will be enforced from March 31 to April 13.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 — Authorities have imposed an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) on Menara City One in Jalan Munshi Abdullah here, after 17 coronavirus infections were reported.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this EMCO — the third one in Malaysia after a total lockdown in several areas in Hulu Langat, Selangor, and Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Johor — would affect 3,200 residents in 502 condominium units and business premises in the high-rise building.

The EMCO at Menara City One will be enforced from tomorrow until April 13.

“This EMCO is imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infections. This move will enable case detection activities from unit to unit for 14 days,” Ismail Sabri said in a statement.

All residents are prohibited from leaving the area under EMCO throughout the duration of the order. Non-residents and visitors are not allowed entry. All businesses in the building must cease operations, except for essential goods.

Residents can order food delivery that will be sent to the lobby at the building’s main entrance.

A medical base will be opened in the EMCO area.
