Covid-19 Kills 20th Malaysian, Tabligh Man Latest Victim

At least seven fatalities had attended the tabligh event at Sri Petaling mosque.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 — Malaysia’s coronavirus outbreak has claimed its 20th victim, a 76-year-old Malaysian man from the tabligh cluster.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Patient 780 had attended a tabligh gathering at Sri Petaling mosque early this month that has been linked to 1,057 out of the total 1,796 Covid-19 cases in Malaysia.

The 20th fatality was hospitalised at Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kelantan on March 18, before he died at 4.35pm today.

“MOH expresses condolences to his family,” Dr Noor Hisham said.

At least seven fatalities, including the 20th victim, had attended the Muslim religious gathering in Sri Petaling. At least three victims were in close contact with coronavirus patients from the tabligh event.

All 20 deaths recorded were of Malaysians.
