Muhyiddin Joined Cabinet Meetings Regularly After Cancer Recovery: Saifuddin Abdullah

Saifuddin Abdullah rubbishes claims that Muhyiddin only attended Cabinet meetings once a month.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 — Muhyiddin Yassin attended Cabinet meetings regularly after he recovered from cancer, former minister Saifuddin Abdullah said, amid questions about the new prime minister’s health.

The former foreign minister dismissed claims that Muhyiddin, then the home minister under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration, only attended Cabinet meetings once a month, but Saifuddin did not confirm with CodeBlue when Muhyiddin made his cancer recovery.

“We should be happy for him and that he showed that he is a fighter, not use this as his weakness,” Saifuddin, who is now with Bersatu, told CodeBlue.

Muhyiddin is said to have pancreatic cancer.

The Malay Mail reported Saifuddin Nasution Ismail as saying in a ceramah yesterday that Muhyiddin had been unable to perform his full duties as home minister.

“I pity him because he is a recovering cancer patient. Whenever Cabinet met every Wednesday of the week, Muhyiddin would only attend once a month as the rest of the time he was on medical leave,” the PKR MP was quoted saying.

Bersatu’s Muhyiddin is set to announce Perikatan Nasional’s Cabinet this evening.
