Penang To Build Three Private Hospitals

The hospitals are expected to be built in Batu Kawan.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 – Penang is looking to construct three more private hospitals if negotiations are successful.

“Penang, over the past few years, is seeing a healthy growth of medical tourism and that is why consequently there will be an increase in demand for the (medical) facility,” said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, according to Bernama.

Penang Development Corporation (PDC) is currently in talks with several private entities to establish the facilities in Batu Kawan, an area that is being developed as a medical hub in the state.

“The industry is growing and the service providers recognise the need to stay competitive with the best facilities and equipment and professional help so that we can remain as the top in the medical tourism sector in Malaysia,” he added.

Dr Chow however did not specify the time frame for the hospitals’ construction or launch.
