Oct 10 is observed as World Mental Health Day.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 – Befrienders KL has launched World Mental Health Day campaign in collaboration with Sticker Bear.

“We are collaborating with Sticker Bear for you to empower yourself with a powerful quote,” said Befrienders KL in a tweet.

“This World Mental Health Day, we want to raise awareness of mental health issues and create a positive environment for those who are struggling.”

Under the partnership between the suicide helpline and the sticker printer, the public will have the chance to create their own positive quote and get it printed on stickers.

October 10 is announced as World Mental Health Day, organised by the World Federation for Mental Health.

This year’s Day, which focuses on suicide prevention, is supported by World Health Organization (WHO), the International Association for Suicide Prevention, and United for Global Mental Health.

“If you are worried about someone, reach out and offer your support, encourage them to seek help, offer to go with them to an appointment, let them know ‘you can’,” said WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a video.

“If you are struggling and wondering how you can go on, talk to someone you trust and ask for help.”

WHO said in a statement: “Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide.”

In Malaysia, the Ministry of Health (MOH) is also observing the day as World Mental Health Day.

“Suicide is one of the 10 leading causes of death in the world,” said MOH in a tweet.

“In Malaysia, deaths by suicide are increasing. It is closely related to mental health.”
