KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — A nine-month-old baby with germ cell tumour of the mouth will fly to London, UK, for further examinations and possibly an operation by Friday.
Bernama reported that Ainul Mardhiah’s father as saying that the family was waiting for flight tickets from Malaysia Airlines that was sponsoring their journey.
“Thank God, everything is proceeding smoothly. Passports are ready and we are only waiting for the green light from MAS for the flight tickets,” Ahmad Safiuddin Ahmad Razak was quoted saying.
“Taking her on the flight is also a risk and we are not sure yet if she can undergo an operation or not. It depends on the MRI test that will be done in London because the one done here was not clear,” added the 24-year-old sundry shop owner.
The baby’s mother, Nurul Erwani Zaidi, reportedly said she hoped her child would be active and crawling again like she did before she underwent chemotherapy at four months.
Ahmad Safiuddin thanked Malaysians for giving them financial aid to enable them to get their baby examined overseas.
Germ cells, which are cells that begin to grow, sometimes develop abnormally and turn into tumours.
